How To Spot A Fake Yorkie Breeder

by Susan Bailey

After making the decision to get a new Yorkshire Terrier the next thing you are going to want to do is to be able to spot a fake Yorkie breeder when you see one so that you can avoid doing any business with them at all. There are many things you can ask and things you can do to try and weed out the fake Yorkie breeders and it is in your best interest to do so as the relationship between you and your breeder is a very important one to the health of your pet.

Check with your local Better Business Bureau and see if there are any complaints registered against the particular Yorkie breeder you are considering doing business with. A breeder that has a long list of customer complaints is someone that does not run their business very well and is also probably not someone you want to wind up doing business with.

Any reputable breeder is going to make sure that a new owner leaves not only with a dog but also with detailed care instructions that can be referenced by the owner to try and ensure the health of your dog. A good Yorkie breeder is just as concerned with the ongoing health of your dog as you are, so they are going to do what they can to help make sure you are able to care for your new pet in the proper way and that includes detailed care instructions.

Another sign of a good and reputable Yorkie breeder is that they will give you a sample of your dog’s food so that you know what to feed your dog to make it healthy and happy. A breeder that does not offer you a free sample of food is probably a fake Yorkie breeder and definitely not someone you want to deal with.

To insurance companies the reputable Yorkie breeders are outlets to try and market pet insurance and to that end the insurance companies try to offer free pet insurance to all new Yorkie owners through their Yorkie breeders.

If you are not offered a free pet insurance policy, or the breeder you are talking to has never heard of such a thing, then the chances are that you may be dealing with a fake Yorkie breeder.

It is important to make sure you are dealing with a legitimate Yorkie breeder when you are looking to buy your new pet so it is in your best interest to take the time to do the research necessary to find out if the breeders you are talking to are for real or are fakes trying to pass themselves off.

A fake breeder is potentially unethical and even possibly dangerous so be very careful in your search for a good and reputable Yorkie breeder.
