Scotty Cameron Detour Putter - The Best Of The Best?

by Stefan B Crall

Titleist brought the Scotty Cameron Detour putters to the golf world for the start of the 2007 and they offer new indicators and elements that help you line up your putting path with greater ease.

This putter, in my opinion, has a softer and solid feel to it than most putters I have tried (including the Laguna) and therefore provides silky and rock steady putt.

This putter genuinely gives you a great putting path and comes with a bright orange headcover that will make it nearly impossible to misplace.

The arc-shaped putting path is introduced in the Detour which makes it a great piece of golfing science and metallurgy design.

This putter has a single bend in the shaft, the Detour 2 has a straight shaft. It has a relatively high MOI and stainless steel weights in both the toe and heel with an obvious T bar appearance.

The base material of the putter is milled 6061 T6 aluminium and this has had cavities milled out in order to lighten the putter up. The weights in the heel are used to triangluate the weight distribution and to add balance.

Shafts come in 33, 34, 35 inches and the list price is around the $300 mark.

I think that this putter feels great to the touch and has definately made me more consistent but when all said and done you have to try it out for yourself to see if it will suit you. Most golf pro shops around the country will allow you to demo the club if you ask.
