Women’s Health Cosmetic Facial Surgery

Patients seek facial plastic surgery for both medical and cosmetic reasons. Most seek facial surgery in hopes that it will allow them to feel more confident, youthful, and attractive. With a simple procedure a person’s ability to take on the world can be dramatically improved. Thus, one of the many reasons that the number of patients seeking cosmetic facial surgery has risen greatly in the past few years.

As we get older, we understand the increasing importance of personal appearance in all aspects of life- settings. It is no surprise that facial plastic surgery has become so widespread. Facial Surgery is no longer limited to aging older women; an increasingly large number of young patients are being seen. And, facial surgery does not mean an entire “new” face, it simply means a slightly enhanced face that “fits” each individual patient and appears completely natural.

While there are many avenues a patient can choose when deciding on a specific facial surgery, the most well known procedures are face/eye/brow lifts and nasal surgery. One of the main reasons a person opts for facial surgery is to achieve a youthful appearance and a lift procedure is the best way to achieve this. In these procedures a patients area of interest is tightened, and wrinkles are reduced. The benefit of these procedures is that they can take years of worry and stress lines away, and are minimally invasive while producing extremely positive results.

Like an eyebrow lift, a forehead lift reduces forehead wrinkles giving a more youthful and alert appearance. The entire procedure usually takes between two and three hours under local or general anesthesia and patients are normally able to return to work in seven to 10 days. Often a laser is used in this procedure to tighten wrinkles and no incision is needed. Another effective and popular way to reduce wrinkles and signs of aging is a face lift. A face lift removes excess skin on the face and neck and tightens tissue providing the patient with a firmer, more youthful looking face. This is a more serious procedure; taking several hours and requires approximately two weeks of recovery. Extra skin is removed and the entire incision is closed in a meticulous fashion using fine sutures, no staples are used. The final incision will be hidden within the contours of the ear and within the hairline.

As mentioned before there are many various facial surgeries a patient can have done. However, nose surgery still remains the most common because a nose surgery has both medical and cosmetic reasons behind it. In addition, many young people of both genders desire the procedure. A nose surgery, or nose job, can completely change a patients face in a natural manner, ridding a person of unwanted bumps, or a simple reshaping and refining can be done to help a patient receive the nose they desire.

Patients seeking facial surgery often have concerns and questions about various facial surgery procedures. At the Emory Facial Center a patient’s needs come first, and making the patient feel comfortable is a top priority. Unlike other plastic surgery facilities, doctors at the Emory Facial Center concentrate specifically on surgical and non-surgical facial procedures.
